WARNING – Exercise is dangerous…

Exercise is dangerous and you need to be warned.

I am NOT joking here.

You may be injured and you may even die.

I completed the Noosa Triathlon and had the unfortunate experience of being on the triathlon course running my 10kms to the finish, only to hear ambulance sirens, see a man laying down on the pavement ahead of me and then read in the paper the next day that a man died with a heart-attack on the run leg.

It – is – dangerous.

I was reminded (and frustrated this morning) by this.

I’m a sook…and knew it was going to be a *cold* morning in Brisbane (a freezing 8 degrees!).  


So, I decided to head out for a walk BEFORE the Sun came up as I know the temperature drops on sunrise.  I don’t know how, but I just know.

5:45am…beanie on head, socks covering hands and Gen rugged up we hit the pavement in slight darkness.

(oh and if you are wondering why I would decide to be heading out so early, don’t ask me, ask Gen why she decided to start her day at 4:45am!)

Walking, warming up the body.

Walking, hearing the first sounds of the day.

Walking, and there’s a hill.

Huffing, puffing, glad to feel I’m working.

Heading home, the end is near….until the pram hits the curb, I stumble and my pubic bone decides to *twinge!*. (For those of you that don’t know I’m 6months pregnant, which means the hormone “relaxin” is going crazy in my body allowing things to move that normally don’t!)


I knew straight away that it wasn’t good and immediately slowed my pace as I cursed my way inside.

I’ll be resting tomorrow morning to see if there is a need for a physio visit – remember it’s dangerous.

But really, let’s think about it for a second.

If we don’t move, don’t have a go, don’t get “out there”….and fill out life with stuff, memories, stories and chapters…

What is the alternative?

I guess you can stay the same.

More of what you already know and feel everyday.
